For more than 30 years, the CMU Museum of Cultural &
Natural History has been collecting objects for
research, study and exhibition. Many of these
objects have never been displayed and many people on
campus know little about the museum.
The museum collects objects that represent cultural
traditions and natural environments from around the
world. Some of the artifacts were produced
centuries ago; some were produced recently. Some of
the animals are common; some are rare. Rather than
merely providing data or information, each object
challenges our knowledge and raises questions . . .
if we are sufficiently curious and imaginative.
This exhibition was created as a class project in
Museum Studies 546, Introduction to Museum Work,
Fall 2006. This exhibition was open from December
11, 2006 to May 7, 2007.
